Instrumentation engineering software · Mac and Windows
Instrument deliverables from your process data, checked and issued, on your computer.
Load the line and equipment lists and the instrument index. INSTloop makes the datasheets and lists that follow from them, checks the engineering, and keeps every document in step when the process data changes.

What it makes
Each document is made from the same project data, so a change in the line list reaches every document that uses it, and is marked for review.
P&ID tag register and instrument list
Tags read from your P&ID PDFs for you to approve, or imported from the client's index. Process and control-system views, issued with revisions.
Datasheets
IEC 61987-style datasheets, or filled into your client's own Excel form. Every value shows where it came from: the line list, a calculation, an assumption or your entry.
Calculation sheets
Control valves, DP flow elements, relief valves and thermowells, with the inputs, the method and the result, each change logged.
I/O list and analyser list
Signals, isolators and barriers, SIL routing, spares; analysers with sample systems, houses, calibration gases and utilities.
Hook-ups
A hook-up typical for each instrument with its bill of materials, A3 drawings and the project material take-off.
Cables, junction boxes and loop diagrams
Branch cables, junction box schedules with spares and segregation, multicores, and a loop diagram for each wired loop. Cable lengths are yours to enter.
How it works
Three steps, in the order instrument work is done.
Project setup
Units, piping classes, hazardous-area schemes and your project rules: hook-ups, junction boxes and cables, tag style.
Process and piping data
Import the client's line and equipment lists as they are, with their own headings, and the P&IDs.
Deliverables
The instrument list, datasheets and the documents that follow. Review, sign off and issue each one with its revision.

Checks an engineer would make
INSTloop flags what needs a second look, and proposes, never silently changes. Fluid properties stay the process engineer's.
- Choked flow, cavitation and noise on control valves
- Thermowell wake frequency and stress
- Relief valve area and orifice selection
- Ranges, set points and direct-mount temperature limits
- Wetted materials against the fluid, including sour service
- Piping class and nozzle ratings against design conditions
- Ex marking from the area classification
Standards it follows
The methods are named on every calculation sheet, so a checker can follow them.
- IEC 60534-2-1
- IEC 60534-8-3 / -8-4
- ISO 5167
- API 520
- API 526
- ASME PTC 19.3 TW
- IEC 61987
- IEC 60079
- EN 837
Every document is reviewed and signed off by an engineer before it is issued. INSTloop is a design aid, not a replacement for that review.
Your data stays on your computer
INSTloop runs offline on Mac and Windows. Projects are stored on your computer and nothing is uploaded. Exports go to the folders you choose: PDF, Excel, or your client's own forms.
